Bright Morning Planets Venus and Jupiter shine this morning in clear skies from the Chicago area. The planets are visible well into bright morning twilight. The image above shows planet Venus, Regulus, and a waning crescent moon (overexposed) in the eastern sky during twilight at 6:10 a.m. CDT.

Venus is rapidly moving to the east although the faster moving moon catches and passes the brilliant planet on October 12.

Over 80 degrees to the upper right of Venus, bright Jupiter is high in the southern sky in the image above made at 6:15 a.m. CDT. It is among the stars of Taurus with Aldebaran nearby. Betelgeuse, the brightest in the constellation Orion, is in the image as well.
