Brilliant Venus shines from the southwest this evening as seen from the Chicago area. (Click the image to see it larger.) The planet is rapidly moving between the sun and our planet, passing in between on January 11, 2014. Venus now sets about 90 minutes after the sun.
After inferior conjunction, it rapidly moves into the morning sky late in January.
