Venus and the Moon, January 2, 2014

DSC00525After a long snowstorm, a clear sky returned to the Chicago area late this afternoon. Brilliant Venus and a crescent moon shine from southwest during evening twilight. (Click the image to see it larger.)  Venus is headed for inferior conjunction on January 11, 2014 and it moves into the morning sky.
