The hours of daylight continue to slip.  The daylight shrinks by 81 minutes in the Chicago area and the mid-northern latitudes during the month.  By month’s end the sun is in the sky for 10 hours, 24 minutes.  During October, the sun is in the sky 25% less time than it was during June, even though October has one additional day.

Moon With Planets

On the mornings of October 8 and October 9, the waning crescent moon appears near the Venus, Jupiter, and Mars.
