Bright Jupiter and Mars shine from the southeastern sky this morning. Jupiter appears low in the sky as it passed its solar conjunction in late October. Mars is now 3.8 degrees from Spica and it is moving away from this star. Mars is marching towards a January 7 conjunction with Jupiter. This morning they are 15.5 degrees apart.
