This morning with a gibbous moon in the west, bright Jupiter shines from the southeast. The three planets – Jupiter, Saturn, and Mars – span 11.9°. Saturn is slightly brighter than Mars, but the difference is not easily seen in the image above. Jupiter is 5.7° to the upper right of Saturn, and Saturn is 6.2° to the upper right of Mars.
Mars continues to move away from the giant planet pair, while Jupiter slowly closes in for its Great Conjunction with Saturn.
