Venus shines brightly this evening, 9.8° to the upper right of Aldebaran, the brightest star in Taurus. The brilliant planet has been among the stars of this constellation throughout this month. It is heading toward a near-conjunction with Elnath next month. Watch Venus move farther away from Aldebaran and toward Elnath, the Bull’s Northern Horn. Zeta Tauri is the Southern Horn.
Betelgeuse – the brightest star in Orion – is the left of Venus. Capella, in Auriga, is high above the sparkling planet.
