November 24, 2020: Brilliant Morning Star Venus is visible in the east-southeast as the morning’s sunrise approaches. It is appearing slightly lower this morning. Mercury is visible low in the east-southeast about 45 minutes before sunrise. This speedy planet is ending its best morning appearance of 2020.
November 24, 2020: The Great Conjunction countdown: 27 days. Jupiter continues to close the gap to Saturn. The Jovian Giant passes 0.1° from the Ringed Wonder on December 21, 2020. Tonight, the gibbous moon is to the lower right of Mars. Use a binocular to see the Red Planet in the starfield.
November 23, 2020: The Great Conjunction countdown: 28 days. Jupiter and Saturn are paired together in the south-southwest as Jupiter approaches the Ringed Wonder. The gibbous moon is in the southeast to the right of Mars. The Red Planet marches eastward in Pisces.
November 23 2020: Brilliant Morning Star Venus and Mercury shine from the east-southeast before sunrise. Venus is stepping eastward in Virgo, to the lower left of Spica. Mercury is becoming more difficult to see as it shines from near the horizon to the lower left of Zubenelgenubi.
November 22, 2020: The Great Conjunction countdown: 29 days. Jupiter and Saturn are paired together in the south-southwest as Jupiter approaches the Ringed Wonder. The gibbous moon is in the south. Mars resumes its eastward march in Pisces.
November 22, 2020: Brilliant Venus appears low in the east before sunrise. Venus is moving eastward in Virgo. Mercury is slipping back into the sun’s glare. Mercury approaches the star Zubenelgenubi.
November 21, 2020: The Great Conjunction countdown begins, 30 days until the conjunction. Jupiter and Saturn are low in the south-southwest after sunset. The moon appears between Mars and the approaching conjunction. Mars is moving eastward among the stars of Pisces. The moon is at its First Quarter phase at 10:45 p.m. CST.
November 21, 2020: Bright Morning Star Venus shines in the east-southeast this morning above the speedy planet Mercury. Use a binocular to spot Mercury near the star Zubenelgenubi.
November 20, 2020: After sunset, bright rusty Mars is in the east-southeast in front of the dim stars of Pisces. This evening the thick crescent moon is east of the Jupiter-Saturn pair. Jupiter continues to close the gap to Saturn as a runup to their Great Conjunction on December 21, 2020.
