Venus and Mars This Morning, March 13, 2014

Brilliant Venus gleams as a Morning Star from the southeastern sky this morning during twilight. (Click the image to see them larger.)

At the same hour, Mars appears in the southwestern sky.  It is growing in brightness as it appears at opposition and closest to us in less than a month.
