Venus and Elnath, May 9, 2020
2020, May 9: Venus is 1.5° to the lower left of Elnath.

That bright star in the west, during the early evening, is Venus. This evening is the last night until the near conjunction with Elnath, the Northern Horn of the Bull on May 10. The other horn is Zeta Tauri, to the left of Venus.

This evening Venus is 1.5° to the lower left of Elnath.

After tomorrow evening’s quasi-conjunction, Venus appears to make a large left turn and moves away from the star.

On May 19, look for Mercury, below Venus. The moon joins the scene on May 23.
