Jupiter and Mars This Morning, August 20, 2013

Bright Jupiter and Mars shine from the eastern sky this morning at 5:05 a.m. CDT as seen from the Chicago area. (Click the image to see it larger.)  Mars. is 13 degrees to the lower left of Jupiter and 6 degrees to the lower right of Pollux (Gemini) with Castor nearby.  Mars continues to move eastward compared to the starry background.  During the next few mornings watch it pass the twin stars of Gemini.
