With the moon approaching last quarter, Morning Stars Venus and Jupiter shine in clear skies in this 30-second image made at 4:05 a.m. CDT in the Chicago area. The two planets continue to dominate the morning eastern skies well into bright morning twilight. Venus is well past Zeta Tauri — a star that marks one of the horns of Taurus. Venus continues its eastward movement among the stars. Notice that Jupiter is near Aldebaran, the brightest star in Taurus. The Hyades star cluster is nearby. The Pleiades star cluster shines above Jupiter.
