October 3, 2022: The Webb Space Telescope recorded the first image of a planet around another star.  Jupiter, Saturn, Mars, and Mercury are easy to spot during the night.

October 2, 2022: Bright Mars is visible high in the southwest before daybreak.  After sunset, the First Quarter moon appears in front of the Teapot of Sagittarius.

September 28, 2022: Three bright planets – Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn – are visible overnight.  Arcturus and Fomalhaut hint at the season.  The lunar crescent is near the Scorpion’s claws after sundown.

2022, September 27: Andromeda Galaxy Overnight, Mars Marches Eastward

September 27, 2022: The Andromeda galaxy can be seen nearly overhead during early morning hours. Mars continues is eastward march through Taurus.

2022, September 26:  Jupiter at Opposition, Morning Stellar Parade

September 26, 2022:  Earth is between Jupiter and the sun – opposition.  The Jovian Giant shines brightly in the sky all night.  Before sunup, bright stars accompany Mars in the southern sky.

2022, September 23: Mercury’s Inferior Conjunction, Morning Crescent

September 23, 2022: Mercury is at inferior conjunction, passing between Earth and the sun. Before sunrise locate the thin crescent moon near Regulus and the Sickle of Leo.
